Minnowstar felt herself calming down as she looked at her distorted reflection in the waves. She didn't really know why she was there, her paws getting splashed by the water every few seconds. All she remembered was walking out of the camp with a strong desire to do something besides sitting around camp all day. Maybe she was tired of being underground all the time, and wanted to feel the cold of the waves and the brush of the breeze.
As she looked down at the water, Minnowstar saw a fish swimming around by her paws. Her stomach growled at her; she'd forgotten to eat something before leaving. A smile spread on her face, she'd have to fix that.
She jumped gracefully into the cool water, her jaws closing around the fish. She swam up, and let herself drift with the waves as she dripped all of the saltwater out of her mouth. Man, it tasted nasty! Minnowstar started swimming back to the shore, feeling proud of herself. She still had the speed she'd been named for when she became a warrior. After she reached the beach, the cat looked up and realized she wasn't alone.
(OOC: This is my usual length by the way. Sometimes it's more or less depending on my muse and mood.)

Fishpelt had decided to take a walk down the beach, to let the sun warm his gray fur. His mate Larksong would kit soon and this had made him nervous. He wanted to feel the salty breeze for a while, instead of the warm feeling of the mine.
He came across Minnowstar, who had just caught a fish. His leader had spotted him as she came ashore. "Hello, my leader," said the gray tom.

Minnowstar felt relieved that it was just Fishpelt on the beach with her, and not a cat from another clan. The Gathering wasn't for a few more suns at least, and she didn't want to have to deal with an attacking clan at that moment. Ignoring her hunger to greet her clanmate, Minnowstar put her fish gently down into the very edge of the water. It was dead anyway, so there was no chance it could get away. A warm smile lit up her face, "Good morning, Fishpelt. How are you and Larksong?" She felt a little guilty for not asking that question before, but she'd been very busy finishing repairs on her den after the small flood a moon ago. Thankfully, nobody had been hurt.
A cold wind blew from behind her, and she shivered slightly. Leaffall was definitely upon the clans, judging by the weather. Maybe it had been a mistake to swim today. The wind was making her cold, and her wet fur was not helping one bit.

"I am well," said Fishpelt. "And so is Larksong, and her kits. I'm just anxious. I thought I needed some fresh air." Fishpelt looked the fish his leader had caught and wondered if he should bring his mate something back to eat.

Minnowstar listened to Fishpelt talk as she stepped a little farther out of the water. Her paws were cold from the waves, and she was trying to kept them from getting colder. Still, she paid attention to the cat. He wasn't the first anxious father-to-be she'd known, and Minnowstar had a feeling he wouldn't be the last. Besides, she'd needed some fresh air too. "I'm glad. It'll be nice having kits running around the clan again, although we'll all be very tired."
Deciding she wasn't so hungry anymore, Minnowstar picked up the fish and walked over to Fishpelt. She set it down in front off him, and mewed, "Here, give this to Larksong. Queens usually get hungry faster than other cats, and she is eating for more cats than herself."

"Thank you Minnowstar," said Fishpelt with gratitude. He picked up the fish and lifted his head to his leader, "May I take my leave?"
ooc: I suppose he'll be back in the thread once he brings the fish to his mate.

(OOC: I might as well just go back with you, Minnowstar's freezing her paws off)
Minnowstar raised her eyebrows, or at least did whatever the cat version is. "Go ahead, but you don't really need my permission for that. I'll come with you." She took a few steps toward the camp, knowing that Fishpelt would probably follow.

Fishpelt smiled as his leader led the way back to camp, and he carried his fish which had been caught by Minnowstar as he followed her.
ooc: let's start a new thread in the camp.
